Hello, welcome back, hope you’re well and keeping warm. It’s a snowy tundra outside at the moment, and I’m writing this just so my fingers warm up. When you’re whole neighbourhood is covered in snow and you’re trying to wrap up warm, pretend your sat out in the sunshine in a grassy meadow, drinking wine and eating bread on a picnic blanket, book lying by your side and the radio playing a soft, summery tune.
Thank you to Megan @ Megan Blogs About for nominating me and thinking up the questions!
1.) What’s the best thing about blogging?
There are so many reasons as to why I love blogging, I don’t think I have a best thing! One reason, which I adore, is that I have found a place to talk about books. I can interact with others, or just shout out into the void if I want. Without blogging, without the online community that I’ve immersed myself in, I don’t think I would have many to talk with about a love for books. Before blogging, I didn’t even read much and if I did, it was a very lonely past time. Now, I can hear other recommendations from people, or just fangirl about a book we both loved!
2.) Where do you want to be in a years time with your blog?
My goal for the future is to become more self-hosted. While I love my blog dearly and the way it’s turned out, it’s still not exactly how I want it to look. I have a lot of trouble with WordPress.com’s limited features, and I believe that migrating to WordPress.org and becoming self hosted will mean I can be more creative in the design and layout of my blog. Also I plan to start making a liiiiittle bit off money off the site too from advertisers!
3.) If you could click your fingers and arrive at anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
Prague. I’m going in a couple of weeks but I’m fed up of waiting!
4.) If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
I would have dinner with Julie Andem, the writer and creator of Norwegian drama, SKAM. I would try and speak in Norwegian the whole dinner, and would ask: “Hvorfor ikke gay jenter på Skam??” (Feel free to Google this!)
5.) If you had to pick the last meal you were ever going to eat, what would it be?
Chicken Massaman curry from my favourite family run Thai place in Bath *kisses fingers* it’s exquisite!
6.) Where’s the best place you’ve ever been to?
I have no idea! I’ve been to quite a few places in my 25 years on Earth, but I don’t know if I could rank them! For a long time, I would say Disneyland Paris, but I feel the rose-tinted glasses have come off in recent years and I have no itch to go back, so I guess that must mean something, right?
To be honest, the places in Scandinavia that I’ve visited have been lovely.
7.) What’s one thing you’d say to your younger self?
Do not be afraid to be yourself. While I had a strong personality when I was younger, I often hid it to fit in. I adapted and changed myself depending on who I was hanging out with. I think a lot of it was for survival; I saw others get bullied for no reason and so ended up being afraid of what might happen to me if I talked about Harry Potter too much or told my friends I didn’t enjoy shoplifting at Claire’s Accessories. As I got older, it got a lot easier and I found friends that I felt more relaxed around. But between ages 12-15 I kept my actual self and my school/social self separate, which makes me feel super sad to think about now!
8.) What’s your favourite series to binge watch?
I could binge watch anything to be honest. Some of my favourites are The Office (US), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Brooklyn Nine Nine, and The IT Crowd.
9.) What’s your favourite quote/saying?
I don’t usually remember any quotes that I like, and just appreciate them in the moment. I like ‘one day at a time’ – I used that one a lot when I was in The Bad Place (I explain The Bad Place at question 11).
10.) What’s your favourite feel-good song?
Nine In The Afternoon by Panic! At The Disco. Gosh. It’s so lovely.
11.) What’s your proudest achievement?
There are things that I’ve done in my life that I’m proud of but when I say them out loud and I’m just? Not convinced? I guess a good thing is that I’m not in a bad place anymore, mentally (physically, financially, and in life i’m in a terrible place hahahaha). I had a long, painful episode of depression which lasted about three months and I had to crawl myself out of it. Sometimes it tries to grab my foot and drag me back down, but I’m armed with a broom and some water spray to make sure it STAYS AWAY.
Ok, now I have to nominate 11 new people. Here’s 5:
- Alice @ Ardently Alice
- Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews
- Ashleigh @ A Frolic Through Fiction
- Kelly @ Kelly’s Rambles
- Silvia @ Silvia Reads Books
Your questions are:
- What was the last song played on your Spotify/Itunes/Soundcloud (whichever music player you use!)
- Is there a book coming out in 2018 that you’ll most probably be giving five stars?
- Is there a book that you already gave 5 stars this year? (Doesn’t have to be a 2018 release!)
- What’s the next country to visit on your bucket list?
- What’s a book that you had no idea you’d love but then read it and your mind was blown?
- Is there a particular colloquialism/saying/fun dialect or language thing from your neck of the woods that you like? What is it? What does it mean?
- What’s a film you watch when you wanna get cozy and take part in some self care?
- What’s a book you didn’t enjoy recently? You don’t have to explain why, but maybe link to a review? *whistles*
- If you had to pick High School Musical 1, 2, or 3, which one would you pick to watch? I guess you can pick none…
- What’s an LGBTQ+ book you’d recommend? We all need recs!
- If you were in charge of the music of a show/film, what song would you pick to play during a fight scene?
